Indian Coast Guard Navik Syllabus

Indian Coast Guard Exam Pattern for Stage I

The Stage I is the computer based test and comprises two sections. Candidates who opts for Navik (DB) post are required to appear for Section I. Those who applies to the post of Navik (GD) are required to appear for Section I and II. The section I carries questions from Maths, Science, English, Reasoning and GK. This section carries 60 questions and duration of the exam is 45 minutes. The section II carries questions from Maths and Physics. The maximum marks allotted to this section are 60. Marking Scheme & Nature of Question

The question paper for section I & II comprises objective type questions with four options. The candidate has to choose the correct option. There is no negative marking in the written examination test.

Tie-Breaking Rule in Merit

In case of two or more candidates having the same marks in stage I, then the tie will be broken in steps as follows (wherever tie is broken next stage will not be proceeded):

  • Candidate scoring more marks in Section–I {applicable only for Navik (GD) and Yantrik and not for Navik (DB)}
  • Candidate scoring more aggregate percentage in qualifying exam (10th class for Navik (DB), 12th Class for Navik (GD) as per the post applied. The aggregate percentage (calculated upto three decimal places without rounding off) as recorded and considered by the Board of education for calculation of aggregate percentage and submitted by the candidate in the online application
  • Candidate older in age will be higher in merit

    • After joining, a Navik in Indian Coast Guard will be entitled to get a basic pay of INR 21,700 (Pay Level-3) plus DA and other allowances (based on nature of duty/location of posting)
    • A Navik can be promoted upto the rank of Pradhan Adhikari with a pay scale INR 47,600 (Pay Level-8) with Dearness Allowance
    • Apart from basic pay and allowances, a Navik is entitled to get free ration, clothing, medical treatment, government accommodation for self and family on nominal rate, canteen, and various loan facilities
    • After retirement, they can avail ECHS medical facilities
